Terms of Service

MediaFrame ("the Service") is operated by Smart Signals LLC ("we", "us"). By accessing or using the Service — including through the API or an AI agent connected to your account — you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Service description

MediaFrame is a policy-monitoring intelligence service. It analyses publicly available policy documents, official government records, think-tank publications and news coverage to show how policy ideas move from research institutions into the official record, and how named sources frame them. Outputs are automated analyses for informational purposes only.

The Service is offered on the web and, where available, through the MediaFrame app for iOS and Android, which shows the same board with the same account. These Terms cover both. The app is distributed by Apple and Google under their store terms, which do not make them parties to these Terms or responsible for the Service. Plans are bought on the web, not in the app.

2. Accounts and plans

Anyone may create an account with a valid email address, or sign in with Google. You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for all activity on your account.

The Service has three plans; their current contents and prices are listed at mediaframe.me/pricing:

Free — the main board, trajectories, a small daily number of Ask questions, and the MCP connector for AI agents with the core datasets.
Analyst — adds the analytical views (framing, frame flow, rhetoric, coverage, pulse, advanced signals).
Premium — adds who's-who attribution (framers, frame propagation, the movers breakdown and editorial trajectories with redlines), a larger Ask allowance, the data API, and the framing and who's-who tools in the MCP connector.

We may change what each plan includes; we will give at least 30 days' notice of any change that materially reduces a paid plan you are subscribed to.

3. Acceptable use

You may use the Service for lawful research, analysis and professional purposes. You may not: (a) access the Service by automated means other than the data API or MCP connector provided with your plan (including scraping the board or circumventing rate limits); (b) attempt to circumvent access controls, plan limits or security measures; (c) share your account, session or API keys with anyone outside your organization, or resell access to the Service; (d) use the Service in a way that could harm third parties, or to harass any person or organization named in it; (e) present MediaFrame's automated characterizations as established fact (see §4).

3A. API and agent access

Every account can connect an AI agent through the MCP connector (https://mediaframe.me/mcp); the agent sees the tools your plan includes. Premium plans add the data API (https://mediaframe.me/v1/) and the framing and who's-who tools.

Keys and connected apps. API keys are personal credentials: keep them secret. You are responsible for all use of your keys and of any agent you connect. Revoke a key or disconnect an app at any time at mediaframe.me/auth/account. API keys stop working if your Premium plan ends; a connected agent keeps only the tools of your current plan.
Limits. API and MCP use is subject to fair-use limits — currently 2,000 requests per account per day (a full snapshot download counts as 100, up to 20 snapshots a day) and your plan's daily Ask allowance. We may change these limits with notice and may throttle use that degrades the Service for others.
What you may do with the output. You may use API and MCP output within your organization, including in your own reports, dashboards, and AI agents and assistants acting on your behalf, and quote limited excerpts externally with attribution ("Source: MediaFrame, mediaframe.me"). You may not redistribute, sell or sublicense the datasets, publish them in bulk, use them to build or train a competing dataset or service, or use them to train or fine-tune machine-learning models.
Reliability. Frame labels and other model outputs have a published error rate (mediaframe.me/llms.txt). If you cite them, keep that qualification; do not present them as fact.
No article text. The API and MCP provide metrics, headlines, source links and redline fragments — never full article text. Third-party content remains subject to §5.

4. Analytical disclaimers

Automated analyses — framing, rhetoric, stance, frame propagation, forecasts and Ask answers — characterize sources and documents using statistical and machine-learning methods over ingested text. They are estimates for review, not factual assertions about any organization's intent, conduct or editorial policy. Each claim links to its underlying source material. Ask answers are generated by a language model and can be wrong. Verify independently before relying on any output for consequential decisions. 5. Third-party content

Source material cited or excerpted in the Service is published by third-party organizations on the open internet; rights remain with those publishers. Excerpts and redlines are transformative outputs for analytical purposes; each cites the publisher and links to the original.

6. Subscriptions and billing

Paid plans are billed monthly in advance, in US dollars, through Stripe. Prices exclude applicable taxes, which are calculated and added at checkout based on your billing address.
Upgrades from Analyst to Premium take effect immediately; you are charged a prorated amount for the rest of the current billing period.
Cancellation: cancel any time from the billing portal (mediaframe.me/auth/billing/manage). Your plan stays active until the end of the paid period and is not renewed.
Failed payments: if a payment fails and is not resolved, your account reverts to the Free plan.
Refunds: if you are not satisfied, contact contact@mediaframe.me within 14 days of your first payment for a plan and we will refund it in full. After that, fees already paid are non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise; cancelling stops future renewals.
Price changes: we will give at least 30 days' notice of any price change, taking effect at your next renewal.
Editorial redlines require your acceptance of the additional terms shown at first access.

7. Limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Smart Signals LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, and its total liability for any claim is limited to the fees you paid in the 3 months before the claim.

8. Changes, suspension and termination

We may update these Terms by posting a revised version with a new effective date; for material changes affecting paid plans we will also notify you by email at least 30 days in advance. We may suspend access, or revoke API keys and connected apps, immediately for a breach of §3 or §3A or to protect the Service; otherwise with reasonable notice. You may delete your account at any time yourself, at mediaframe.me/auth/account on the web or in the app, or by contacting us. A paid plan is cancelled in the billing portal first.
